The V.E.M. MTS-GLZ1-1600/4 is a 1600A, 4 pole manual transfer switch — a manual changeover switch that moves a building from mains to generator and back, with a mechanical interlock that makes it impossible to have both sources connected at once.
What it is for
In a building that runs on a generator for part of the day, the changeover is the single most important piece of the panel. An MTS gives the operator one handle with three positions — source I, off, source II — instead of two breakers that someone could close together. At 1600A and 4 poles it switches all three phases plus the neutral, which is what you want when the two sources have separate earthing.
Where it goes
- Main distribution boards on a generator changeover, residential or commercial
- Hospitals, hotels, factories and towers where the generator carries the whole load
- Any board where two low voltage supplies must be switched safely and never paralleled
Installing it
The GLZ1 mounts inside the cabinet and is operated either by a handle on the switch itself or by an extended shaft with the handle on the cabinet door, so the changeover can be made without opening the panel. Auxiliary contacts can be added for signalling the position back to a control circuit or a generator controller.
